Young man stood on 100 feet high BSNL tower for 19 hours
Tilhar-Shahjahanpur. A young man climbed the 100 feet high BSNL mobile tower located in the Degree College campus located in Kachhiyanikheda and gave sleepless nights to the police and administration for 19 hours. The high-voltage incident that started on Thursday night ended around 3 pm on Friday afternoon, when after long consultation and hard work by the officers, the young man could be brought down safely. During the entire incident, the police, administration and family members held their breath.
At around 8 pm on Thursday night, Akash Yadav, a resident of Ramnagar Colony of Meeranpur Katra police station area, suddenly climbed the BSNL tower located near the temple. As soon as the information was received, Inspector Crime Sunil Yadav reached the spot with the police force. The police kept talking to the youth through mobile phone throughout the night, but he was not ready to come down. The young man kept demanding action, calling himself a victim of police torture.
On Friday morning his father Guddu and mother Anita were called to the spot. Seeing the matter escalating, many police and administration officials including ADM Arvind Kumar, SDM Jeet Singh Rai, Tehsildar Azhar Ansari, Rural SP Deeksha Bhanware, CO Ishika Singh, Inspector in-charge Prince Sharma remained camping at the spot. During the conversation, the youth alleged that he was continuously harassed after the cases were registered in Katra police station. He also alleged cyber fraud of Rs 50,000 and exploitation by a factory contractor during his job in Haryana. The young man said that he was not heard anywhere, due to which he lost faith in the system.
The situation became more serious when the young man said that he had sulfa pills and food items with him. After this, the police cordoned off the entire area and took extra vigil to deal with any untoward incident. Despite hours of persuasion, the young man remained adamant on his demand to talk to CBI or Army officials and get a job in the army. Finally, ADM Arvind Kumar talked to him patiently and reassured him. After this, the police team climbed the tower and took the young man down safely amid security measures. As soon as he got down, the police took him with them to the police station.
Mental condition will be examined
CO Ishika Singh said that prima facie the mental condition of the youth does not seem normal. His medical examination is being done. If necessary, he will be referred to the Mental Health Institute in Bareilly.
