This alert will come through ‘Cell Broadcasting System’, whose main objective is to provide accurate and fast information to the people in times of disaster.

Uttarakhand Emergency Alert Test Regarding this, the government has made it clear that this is just a drill. Secretary Disaster Management and Rehabilitation, Vinod Kumar Suman said that Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority (USDMA) is testing this system in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) of the Government of India. During this test, a special kind of message will come on the phone and the phone will vibrate and also make a loud sound, even if your phone is on silent mode.

disaster warning preparedness

It is not hidden from anyone how important early warning of disaster is for a hilly state like Uttarakhand. The administration believes that if people get correct information even a few minutes in advance in case of heavy rain, landslide or flood, the loss of life and property can be reduced to a great extent. In fact, this entire exercise is a big step towards strengthening the disaster early warning system. Through this technical test, it will be seen whether the forecasts and disaster related information of the Meteorological Department are reaching the remote areas of the state without any delay.

Why is this test necessary?

It is often seen that due to network problems or technical glitches, important information is not delivered on time. This will happen on Saturday Uttarakhand Emergency Alert Test Through this the capacity of various mobile network service providers (like Jio, Airtel, VI) will be measured. The government wants to see how effectively the messages are being delivered and where there is scope for improvement. According to officials, it is very important to check the ‘speed’ and ‘accuracy’ of the message in different circumstances so that there is no mistake in any real disaster in future.

Indigenous technology and secure future

It is being told that India is now starting ‘Cell Broadcast’ service using its indigenous technology. This technology does not depend on the internet, due to which messages can be delivered even in case of network jam. The message that will appear on your screen during this test will clearly state that this is a “test message” and the public does not need to take any action on it. This initiative of the Home Ministry aims to realize the dream of “Vigilant Citizen, Safe Nation”.

The administration has clarified that there is no need to panic about this message coming on Saturday, but there is a need to understand it seriously. Whenever there is a possibility of real disaster in future, real alerts will be issued through this system. At that time it will be mandatory to follow the guidelines issued by the administration. At present, the government will continue to run such awareness programs from time to time so that common citizens can become familiar with this technology.
