Youth Kabaddi Series: Vasco Vipers beat Himalayan Tahars to win Division 3 title

Coimbatore Coimbatore: The 11th edition of the Youth Kabaddi Series Division 3 stage concluded in dramatic fashion at the Karpagam Academy of Higher Education in Tamil Nadu on Saturday. The highlight of the day was Vasco Vipers winning the Division 3 final by defeating undefeated Himalayan Tahars in a thrilling final. Vasco Vipers have become the first team to qualify for the Grand Finale after their incredible win in the Division 3 finals. The Youth Kabaddi Series has established a clear path for teams to qualify for the Grand Finale, which will be held in January-February Due to happen in 2025. 12 teams will participate in this marquee event.

The qualification structure ensures inclusivity, with at least one team from Division 3, at least two teams from Division 2 and at least three teams from Division 1 earning their place in the grand finale. The remaining places will be determined in the upcoming Division 2 and Division 1 stages, in which teams will battle for the chance to compete for the coveted title. The day started with the last league match of Division 3, where Vasco Vipers registered an impressive 62-38 win over Ranchi Rangers. Vipers, who had secured a place in the finals, used this match as a warm-up. Laxman Gowda and Bhargava were in great form, both achieving Super 10s, while Abhishek came off the bench and contributed 13 raid points and 2 tackle points.

For Rangers, substitutes Bittu Kumar with 15 raid points and Monu Kumar with 5 tackle points fought back, but the rest of the team faltered, ending their campaign on a disappointing note. The much-awaited Division 3 final between Himalayan Tahars and Vasco Vipers lived up to its expectations. Himalayan Tahars, who were undefeated in the league stage, entered the final as favorites, but Vipers had other plans. The match started with both the teams in the lead. With 10 minutes left on the clock, Tahars looked set to win, they were leading and on the verge of giving the Vipers another all-out. However, the Vipers' defense took advantage of the opportunity and turned the match in their favor by making four super tackles in the final moments. Prince performed brilliantly for the Vipers with a Super 10, while Sachin dominated defensively, registering a high 5. For Tahars, Mayank Saini performed brilliantly, earning seven raid points and one tackle point, but lack of support from his teammates ultimately led to them losing the match.
