AI-Generated Deepfake Tools: After a new report, serious questions are being raised regarding YouTube and X, the world’s two largest social media platforms. Let us tell you that in a recent study of the Institute for Strategic Dialogue (ISD), it has been claimed that within just four months, both these platforms led millions of users to websites with such AI tools where anyone can create obscene pictures in a few clicks.

After the report came out, a new debate has erupted on the content moderation policy of social media platforms and the security arrangements related to deepfakes. Regarding this, experts believe that the increasing use of such tools can become a big threat to both online security and privacy.

More than 57 lakh visits recorded in four months

It was told in the study that researchers analyzed the 10 most used apps and websites that create deepfakes. The investigation found that between December 2025 and March 2026, these websites recorded more than 5.7 million visits through social media. The biggest contribution among these was YouTube. The report also observed that 1.82 million visits were made through YouTube which accounts for more than 30 percent of the total referral traffic. X stood at the second position with more than 1.3 million visits to these websites.

Links and promo codes were available through video

The report also revealed that users who searched for words like undress app were suggested videos in which these AI tools were being reviewed and promoted. Many videos also contained direct links to relevant websites and promo codes offering free credit, making these services even easier to access. Regarding this, experts say that such content can spread rapidly through algorithms and can increase the possibility of misuse.

Are platforms breaking their own policies?

On this whole issue, experts say that from these results it is clear that the company is violating its own policies banning obscene content. They argue that the rules should also apply to websites and tools that generate such indecent images.
