YouTube’s big action: Permanent ban imposed on channels making misleading AI movie trailers

The platform has permanently banned two big channels including the popular Indian channel Screen Culture. These channels were accused of posting fake movie trailers made with the help of AI, which were being presented like real films. According to reports, such videos were confusing to users and were a serious violation of YouTube’s policies.
YouTube takes strict action on AI deepfakes
YouTube has clarified that misleading AI-generated videos are a direct violation of its policy. As Deadline reports, Screen Culture and Georgia-based KH Studio have been removed from the platform entirely. The names of these channels no longer appear in YouTube search and the old links are redirecting to error pages. This action has been taken due to violation of synthetic content disclosure rules.
How fake movie trailers were made
According to the report, both these channels used to create fake trailers by mixing AI-generated images with footage from real films. These videos were edited and presented in such a way that they appeared like official trailers. The objective was clear – maximum views and earnings. According to statistics, these channels had more than 20 lakh subscribers and more than one billion views.
First suspension, then permanent ban
YouTube had suspended the advertising (monetization) of these channels at the beginning of the year. After this the channels added “Fan Trailer” and “Parody” By adding words like monetization was achieved again. However, these disclosures were later removed, citing repeated policy violations. Ultimately YouTube permanently banned both channels.

YouTube’s policies and further guidance
YouTube spokesperson Jack Malone said that even after getting monetization back, these channels still violated the spam and misleading metadata policy. This case clearly indicates that YouTube is now taking a tough stance against AI deepfakes and clickbait content and will have a zero tolerance policy on such cases in the future.
