Mumbaiमुंबई:
Veteran star Zeenat Aman said she is an “aunty” and is proud of the tag as she stressed that it is not an “insulting term”. Zeenat shared a photo of herself on Instagram on Friday morning wearing a white T-shirt with “Aunty” written on it along with white and black tie-dye pants. She completed her look with oversized sunglasses and red lipstick. Along with the photo, she wrote: “Which genius decided “aunty” is an insulting term? Of course it wasn't me.”

“Where would we be without those ubiquitous older women who make our lives cozy, warm and safe.” Zeenat shared that “Indian aunties are everywhere”. “And they don’t even need to be related to you. They offer you a shoulder to lean on, an ear to listen to your problems, a warm meal, a silly joke, a welcoming home, a perfect scolding, a pearl of wisdom. When you hear the word “auntie” you might imagine a sulky, sulky woman, or you might think of the older women in your life and see what I see.

However, Zeenat revealed that she is proud of the tag and will happily wear it. “Me? I am an aunty and I am proud of it. It is a tag I will happily wear on my sleeve or in this case, on my chest.” “In my life I had my stepmother Shamim Aunty who was a huge support when my sons were young. She would cook for us and look after the boys and check on me every day. Now tell me about an extraordinary aunt or aunties in your life!” Zeenat said that it is a great day to celebrate aunties. “It is a great day to tag aunties, give credit to aunties and celebrate aunties,” she added.
