Zelensky and PM Modi meet in New York, know what was agreed upon on Russia-Ukraine ceasefire

New York: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in New York and reiterated India's support for an early resolution of the conflict in Ukraine and restoration of peace and stability in the region. Modi, who is on a three-day visit to the US, met Zelensky on the sidelines of the historic UN summit in New York on Monday, the last leg of the visit.

This is the second meeting between the two leaders in about a month. They met in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv on August 23 during the Prime Minister's visit to Ukraine. Modi posted on the social media platform 'X', “Met Ukrainian President Zelensky in New York. We are committed to implementing the outcomes of my visit to Ukraine last month to strengthen bilateral relations.”

India reiterated its support for an early resolution of the conflict in Ukraine and restoration of peace and stability. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri told during a special press conference here that during the meeting, Zelensky appreciated India's attention to the conflict in Ukraine and thanked Prime Minister Modi for his efforts to find a way out of it. Misri said that the two leaders also agreed to remain in close contact.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi met President Zelensky of Ukraine today on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York. The two leaders shared their views on bilateral relations. They also discussed the situation in Ukraine. The Prime Minister reiterated India's willingness to play a constructive role in seeking a peaceful resolution to the conflict through dialogue and diplomacy,” the Ministry of External Affairs posted on 'X'.
