An awkward moment hit the headlines during the third and final ODI between Zimbabwe and Bangladesh at the Harare Sports Club on Saturday when Zimbabwe’s opener Ben Curran Suffered one of the most unfortunate dismissals of the series. The left-handed batsman tried to survive a tough spell against Bangladesh’s pace bowling but an unfortunate turn ended his innings, leaving players and fans stunned.
Ben Curran’s strange outing surprises everyone
The incident occurred in the sixth over of Zimbabwe’s innings, when Bangladesh’s fast bowler Shoriful Islam Bowled a short-of-a-length delivery onto the stumps. Curran tried to defend the ball with soft hands, and it appeared that he was successful in making a safe stop.
However, the ball slipped off the inside edge and slowly started returning towards the stumps. Curran tried to turn sharply with his bat in an attempt to stop it, but he could not stop the ball from falling off the bails, resulting in an awkward bowl out. Shoriful was rewarded with a wicket, while Curran had to return with two runs off just 13 balls.

Zimbabwe scored 199 runs after opting to bat.
At the start of the day, Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bowl first. Zimbabwe were eventually all out for 199 runs in 48.1 overs despite a struggling effort from the middle order. Wessly Madhevere took over the innings scoring 75 runs in 74 balls, which included five fours and a six, while Brad Evans provided the momentum in the final moments by scoring an aggressive 50 off just 43 balls, which included five boundaries and two sixes.
For Bangladesh, Shoriful was the key performer with the bowling, finishing with impressive figures of 4/44. Taskin Ahmed And Tanveer Islam Taking two wickets each, he helped restrict the hosts to below 200 runs. Having won the first two ODIs, Zimbabwe entered the tie aiming to achieve a memorable 3–0 win on home soil. Bangladesh, on the other hand, were trying to save some honor to avoid a clean sweep in the final match.
