ZIM vs IRE T20 WC 2026: Match canceled due to rain, Australia out of T20 World Cup, Zimbabwe reaches Super-8

Pallekele. Zimbabwe entered the Super Eights after their T20 World Cup Group B match against Ireland was washed out due to rain while former champions Australia and Ireland are out of the tournament. Both teams got one point each, leaving Zimbabwe with five points.

Now on February 26, Zimbabwe will face India in the first Super Eight match in Chennai. Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza said, “We have not achieved the target yet, we have just taken steps towards it.” There will be some celebration but the focus is on the next match.” Zimbabwe, which missed qualifying in the tournament last time, became the seventh team to reach the Super Eight.

In Group One, India, South Africa and West Indies have also reached the Super Eight. Zimbabwe has to play its last group match against Sri Lanka on 19 February. Sri Lanka has already reached the Super Eight with six points. Australia has two points, having been defeated by Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka. Group two will have Sri Lanka, England, New Zealand, Pakistan or America.

Raza said, “The coach and I will together analyze the Sri Lankan team and try to win this match. Our goal has not changed since qualifying. We have to win this match also.” Former champion Australia was to get a place in the Super Eight only after Zimbabwe lost both the matches but rain spoiled its intentions.
