Zoe Saldana becomes highest-grossing actress in Hollywood
Hollywood actress Zoe Saldana has surpassed major stars including Robert Downey Jr., Tom Cruise, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson with her films grossing over $15 billion worldwide.
Five of her films have each earned over $1 billion at the box office, helping her surpass several top superstars. Notably, the success of James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Fire and Ash has not only cemented Cameron’s status as one of Hollywood’s highest-grossing filmmakers but also contributed significantly to Saldana’s record-breaking achievements.
The 37-year-old actress has now become the highest-grossing female actor in cinema history, surpassing Scarlett Johansson, who previously held the title after the success of the new Jurassic World film last year. Zoe Saldana has appeared in both the Avengers and Avatar franchises, boosting her box office numbers.
Saldana’s total box office gross has reached $15.5 billion, while Scarlett Johansson stands second with $15.4 billion. Remarkably, Saldana has appeared in four of the seven highest-grossing films of all time, including three of the top three. Her three Avatar films alone have earned a combined $6.6 billion.
In addition, her Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films, in which she plays Gamora, have grossed over $7.5 billion worldwide. She has also starred in Star Trek films.
Zoe Saldana is expected to increase her earnings further by appearing in Avengers: Doomsday later this year. She is also likely to star in the remaining Avatar sequels. She attended the premiere of Avatar: The Way of Fire and Ash last month in Los Angeles.
