Since then people were eagerly waiting for the movement of planes from here. All operational and security related preparations have almost been completed by the Airport Authority. PM Modi had said that this airport was approved in 2003 during the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government. But after that the Congress and SP governments did not allow the work on this project to start.

The capacity of this airport is 1.2 crore passengers annually which will increase further. A plan has been prepared to increase the passenger capacity to 7 crore in future. Here, passengers will also get the facility of better operations and multimodal connectivity with a modern terminal. Initially, flights will be operated on some specific routes from Noida International Airport and later it will be gradually expanded. With the opening of this airport, the pressure on Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport will reduce. This airport will prove to be very useful for the passengers of UP as well as Delhi and North India. Due to connectivity with Express, passengers will be able to reach here easily.
