Repoll On Falta Seat: Election of Falta Assembly seat of West Bengal canceled after irregularities were found, now voting will be held on this date


New Delhi. The Election Commission has decided to cancel the election of Phalta Assembly seat of Diamond Harbor in West Bengal. According to the report of Observer, after receiving complaints of irregularities at all the booths of Phalta Assembly seat, the Election Commission has decided to cancel the election here and conduct re-polling. The Election Commission has informed that voting will be conducted on May 21, 2026 at all 285 polling stations and auxiliary polling stations of Phalta seat of West Bengal.

The Election Commission has said that voting will be held on Phalta Assembly seat from 7 am to 6 pm on May 21. The Commission has said that the counting of votes here will be done on May 24. The Election Commission has said that it has taken this decision considering the irregularities against fair voting and disrupting the democratic process at a large number of polling stations during voting on April 29 in the Phalta Assembly seat of West Bengal. In Phalta, TMC candidate Jahangir Khan and BJP candidate Debangsh Panda are there. During the April 29 voting, Debangshu had accused BJP’s button on EVMs with tape at many places. The video in this regard was also shared by BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya.

People had blocked the highway in many villages of Phalta assembly seat of West Bengal on Saturday. These people had alleged that TMC goons were threatening them. A large number of people had to be persuaded and removed from the highway by sending forces there. There was a lot of controversy in Phalta even before voting, because Election Commission Police Observer Ajay Pal Sharma had gone to the house of TMC candidate Jahangir Khan and clearly said that he was receiving complaints of intimidation by Jahangir’s goons. Ajay Pal Sharma had said that if this continues, strict action will be taken. At the same time, Jahangir Khan had said that if Ajay Pal Sharma is Singham, then I am also Pushpa and will not bow down.
