West Bengal Assembly Polls 2026: Who will come to power in West Bengal, BJP or Mamata Banerjee’s TMC? This is why everyone’s eyes are on women’s votes.
New Delhi. A new government will be formed in the state after the counting of votes for 293 out of 294 seats in the West Bengal Assembly on Monday, May 4. Voting for the West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026 was conducted in two rounds on 23 and 29 April. There was tremendous voting in both the rounds. Despite lakhs of names being deleted from the SIR and no decision being taken on the names of 27 lakh voters, after record voting, the question is whether it will benefit Mamata Banerjee’s TMC, which has been in power for 15 years, or BJP?

In the first round of West Bengal Assembly elections, 93.19 percent votes were cast. In this round, 33.62 lakh voters out of 36.77 lakh had exercised their franchise. At the same time, a record 91.66 percent votes were cast in the second round of West Bengal Assembly elections. In both the rounds, women voted in large numbers. The voting percentage of women was slightly less than that of male voters. In such a situation, it is believed that whichever party the women voted for, that party will get success in the West Bengal Assembly elections. Mamata Banerjee’s government gives Rs 1000 to 1500 every month to the women of West Bengal under the Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme. BJP has promised that if the government is formed in West Bengal, it will give Rs 3000 every month to women under the Matrishakti Bharosa scheme.

BJP has made a big move by promising to give Rs 3000 every month. Besides, great assurance has also been given for the safety of women. In such a situation, the result of voting by a large number of women will prove whether they have decided to leave Mamata Banerjee’s TMC and bloom in West Bengal or not. Let us tell you that before the Bihar Assembly elections, the BJP-JDU government had given Rs 10,000 each to women. This had a major impact on the Bihar Assembly elections. Women of Bihar also voted enthusiastically and as a result, opposition RJD could win only 25 seats and its ally Congress could win only 6 seats. Now the focus is on whether this bet of Rs 3,000 by BJP will prove costly for Mamata Banerjee’s TMC too?
