Sunjay Kapur Property Case: Supreme Court tries to reach a settlement between mother and wife in Sanjay Kapoor’s property dispute, former CJI DY Chandrachud appointed as mediator.
New Delhi. In the property dispute between businessman Sanjay Kapoor’s mother Rani Kapoor and wife Priya Sachdev Kapoor, the Supreme Court on Thursday asked to resolve the issue through mediation. CJI Surya Kant’s bench has appointed former CJI DY Chandrachud as the mediator between Rani Kapoor and Priya. Both parties agreed to mediation. The Supreme Court said that if this matter continues, it may take several decades to be resolved. The court wants the family to end the dispute by mutual consent. The court will now hear the case in August.

The Supreme Court has also ordered that no party will give any statement in the media regarding Sanjay Kapoor’s property dispute. No reaction can be posted on the issue even on social media. After the death of Sanjay Kapoor, his mother Rani Kapoor filed a petition in the Supreme Court to cancel the family trust. Rani Kapoor says that the family trust was created without her knowledge or approval and through this an attempt was made to take over the properties and inheritance of Sanjay Kapoor and the family. Rani Kapoor has demanded that transfer and sale of properties be banned until the dispute is resolved.

Rani Kapoor says that she is the only heir of all the property of her husband Dr. Surinder Kapoor. According to Rani Kapoor, in 2017, her properties were also put into the family trust through illegal transactions. She says that when she was ill, many simple documents were signed. He has accused son Sanjay Kapoor and his wife Priya of transferring the property. At the same time, Priya Kapoor denied the allegations and filed a defamation case against some family members. The Supreme Court had advised mediation in this case during the last hearing. Actor Karisma Kapoor’s children Samaira and Kiaan have also filed a separate case regarding Sanjay Kapoor’s property and inheritance.
