New Delhi. After the formation of BJP government in West Bengal, senior IAS officer Manoj Aggarwal has been appointed as the Chief Secretary of the state, giving him a big responsibility. Manoj Aggarwal is a 1990 batch IAS officer of West Bengal cadre and is counted among the flamboyant and honest officers. Till now he is holding the responsibility as the Chief Electoral Officer of West Bengal. He also held the responsibility of the post of Additional Chief Secretary in the Home Department. Assembly elections were held in West Bengal under his leadership. He also played an important role in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign of voter list in the state.

The order of appointment of Manoj Aggarwal will come into effect with immediate effect and he will hold the responsibility of the post of Chief Secretary till further orders. Meanwhile, senior IAS Dushyant Nariyala, who was the current Chief Secretary in Bengal, has been sent to Delhi as Principal Resident Commissioner. Let us tell you that before this, retired IAS officer Subrata Gupta was appointed as his advisor by Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari. Subrata Gupta is a retired IAS officer of 1990 batch. During the recently concluded assembly elections, the Election Commission had appointed Gupta as a Special Role Observer (SRO).

It is noteworthy that today itself the first cabinet meeting of the new government of Bengal was held in which an important decision has been taken to allot land within 45 days to the Border Security Force (BSF) for erecting barbed fencing on the international border with Bangladesh. BJP had announced this before the elections. Apart from this, the decision to implement all the central schemes including that of PM Shri in West Bengal has also been taken in the cabinet meeting. Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari said that women’s safety, corruption-free governance and the roadmap of double engine government will be the main priority of our government.
