Tamil Nadu CM Vijay Accused Of Using Children In Election Campaign: Tamil Nadu CM Vijay Accused Of Using Children In Election Campaign, High Court Seeks Answer From Election Commission
New Delhi. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay and his party TVK are embroiled in a new controversy. It is alleged that Vijay had used children for election campaign. A public interest litigation has been filed in the Madras High Court in this matter. While hearing the PIL, the High Court has described it as a serious matter and has sought a reply from the Election Commission on this. In this PIL filed by advocate Vasuki, DMK and AIADMK have also been accused of corrupt practices in elections and distributing money in exchange for votes.

The petitioner’s lawyer also mentioned in the court the speech of TVK chief Vijay which he had given after the election results were declared. Vijay had thanked the children in his address on the victory of TVK. The bench of Justice GR Swaminathan and Justice V. Lakshminarayanan said that this matter is serious and it is necessary to investigate it. The bench has asked the Election Commission’s counsel to file a reply in this matter as per the instructions of the Election Commission. The bench also asked that a candidate can be disqualified, but is it possible to take such action against a political party that it can be disqualified?

TVK, on behalf of the petitioner, has alleged that Vijay, during a rally at the YMCA grounds on April 21, had asked children to emotionally influence their parents to vote. According to the petitioner, after this many such videos came on social media in which children were seen putting emotional pressure on their mother, father, grandfather, grandmother and maternal grandmother to vote for a particular party. The petitioner said that Vijay has violated the instructions of the Election Commission by campaigning for his party through children.
