New Delhi. The long-running controversy regarding change of leadership in the Congress government of Karnataka came to a complete end today. Congress Legislature Party meeting was held in Bengaluru today in which former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah proposed the name of DK Shivakumar. All the MLAs unanimously elected him as the leader of the Congress Legislative Party. With this the path was cleared for DK Shivkumar to become the Chief Minister. National General Secretary of Congress KC. The legislature party meeting was held in the presence of Venugopal and senior leader Randeep Singh Surjewala.

DK Shivakumar was elected leader of the legislature party on Saturday, paving the way for him to take over as the next chief minister of the state.

DK Shivakumar’s swearing in is scheduled to take place on June 3. Before the legislature party meeting, DK Shivkumar had gone to Lok Bhavan and met Governor Thawarchand Gehlot. On the other hand, preparations have started for the formation of the new cabinet. Many MLAs are trying to join DK Shivakumar’s cabinet. According to media reports, 10 to 15 MLAs can be sworn in as ministers along with DK Shivkumar. It is being told that coordination will be achieved by including leaders supporting both DK Shivkumar and Siddaramaiah in the state cabinet. Siddaramaiah has sought the post of Deputy CM for his son Yatindra, it remains to be seen whether his demand is fulfilled or not.

Let us tell you that on the instructions of the Congress high command, Siddaramaiah had resigned from the post of Chief Minister on May 28. After resigning, Siddaramaiah had said that the Congress high command had offered him a Rajya Sabha seat but he would remain associated with state politics only because he was not interested in national politics.
