India’s Blunt Message To Pakistan On Gilgit-Baltistan Elections: Pakistan should leave illegal occupation of our areas, India’s strong reaction protesting against the decision of elections in Gilgit-Baltistan.

New Delhi. India has expressed strong opposition to the decision of the Pakistan government to hold so-called assembly elections on June 7 in Gilgit-Baltistan of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK). The Government of India has reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, including so-called Gilgit-Baltistan, are integral parts of India. India has said that it has not accepted any attempt to change the status of the areas under illegal occupation of Pakistan. India has said that Pakistan should vacate the areas which it has illegally occupied in India.

The Government of India states that as a result of the full, legal and irrevocable merger of Jammu and Kashmir with India in 1947, the entire Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, including the so-called Gilgit-Baltistan, are an integral and inalienable part of India. The statement issued by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs also stressed that such efforts by Pakistan cannot hide the underlying issues such as serious human rights violations, political repression, economic exploitation and deprivation of liberty in the areas illegally occupied by Pakistan.

The statement also said that the Government of India categorically rejects any attempts by Pakistan to bring about any physical change in the areas under its illegal occupation and emphasizes that such actions cannot hide the fact that Pakistan is illegally occupying Indian territories. The Indian Foreign Ministry has clearly told Pakistan that the areas of India which it has occupied will have to be vacated.
