New Delhi. The date of funeral of former Supreme Leader of Iran Ali Khamenei has been decided. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has invited Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the funeral of Ali Khamenei. In media reports, based on diplomatic sources, it is being said that Modi has received the invitation, although this has not been confirmed by the government. Ali Khamenei’s funeral will begin on July 5 and continue until July 9. Ali Khamenei was killed in a joint attack by America and Israel on February 28 in Tehran.

Ali Khamenei’s funeral was earlier to be held in March but it was postponed in view of the situation due to the war. Let us tell you that on the death of Khamenei, India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri reached the Iranian Embassy in New Delhi and expressed condolences on behalf of the Indian Government. Vikram Misri met Iran’s Ambassador Dr. Mohammad Fathali and expressed grief over the killing of their supreme leader. The Indian Foreign Secretary had also signed the condolence register by writing a message of condolence.

Apart from Khamenei, other members of his family, his daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter were also killed in the joint attack by America and Israel. Khamenei’s wife, Mansoureh Khojasteh Bagherzadeh, was also seriously injured in the attack and died on March 2. After the death of Ali Khamenei, his son Mojtaba Khamenei was unanimously elected as the new Supreme Leader of Iran.
