‘Track-2’ Meeting Between India And Pakistan In Colombo: Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri clarified the situation on the news of ‘Track-2’ meeting between India and Pakistan in Colombo.

New Delhi. Backdoor talks between India and Pakistan were recently claimed in some media reports during a security conference in Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka. Now India has cleared the position on this. India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri has rejected the news of Track-2 meeting between India and Pakistan. He said, I have seen the reports and I am not aware of them. Dozens of such programs are held on different topics in many places around the world. There is nothing new or special in these programs. As far as we are concerned, these are private events organized by private parties. In our view there is nothing official in this.

Vikram Misri said that I do not know about Pakistan, but if we talk about Indian government, there is no official participation or support in these tours. People from India who participate in these programs – whether they are retired diplomats, retired military officers or members of civil society, speak and present their views. They do not and cannot in any way represent the view of the Government of India. We don’t really pay any attention to these programs. In our view they have no special importance.

Claim in media report
