SP-Congress Seat sharing in UP Assembly Election 2027: There will be trouble over seat sharing between Samajwadi Party and Congress in UP Assembly elections! Know why such discussion is taking place?

Lucknow. UP assembly elections are to be held in March-April next year. The ruling BJP is trying to win the UP assembly elections for the third consecutive time. At the same time, the main opposition party Samajwadi Party is trying its best to remove him from power. Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party has entered into an alliance with Congress in UP, but there is talk of seat sharing in this alliance. However, the central leadership of Samajwadi Party and Congress has till now maintained silence on seat sharing in UP.

Recently, Rahul Gandhi has made Dalit leader Rajendra Pal Gautam in-charge of UP Congress. Rajendra Pal Gautam gave a statement only after this that there will be talk of equality in seat distribution. Rajendra Pal Gautam had recently gone to meet BSP supremo Mayawati at her Lucknow residence along with many Congress leaders. However, Mayawati did not meet him. Still Rajendra Pal Gautam said that we respect Mayawati. Congress’s doors are open for talks with BSP. It is clear from this statement that Congress is in a way challenging SP by talking about alliance with Mayawati.

According to reports, Akhilesh Yadav is ready to give 70 to 80 seats to Congress in the UP assembly elections. The reason for this is that even after the alliance with Samajwadi Party, Congress’s performance in UP has not been good. When the UP Assembly elections were held in 2017, Samajwadi Party had given 100 seats to Congress, but Congress could win only 7. At the same time, in the 2022 UP Assembly elections, Congress alone contested 400 seats and performed very poorly and could win only 2 seats. Whereas, in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, it again formed an alliance with Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party. At that time, Akhilesh gave 11 seats to Congress and Congress won 6 seats by creating a narrative against BJP that the Constitution is in danger. Whereas, Samajwadi Party had captured 37 seats. Congress now wants Samajwadi Party to give it seats on the basis of 2009 Lok Sabha elections. Congress had won 21 Lok Sabha seats in that election. However, since then the party has only deteriorated in UP. In such a situation, if Congress puts pressure on Akhilesh Yadav to give more seats in the UP assembly elections, then it may create a rift in the alliance between the two.
