Supreme Court: ‘Talk of divorce and… snatching away the husband’s employment is very bad’, know why the Supreme Court said this?

New Delhi. The Supreme Court has expressed concern over women writing letters to their husband’s office officials on a case. Justice BV Nagarathna and Justice R. Mahadevan’s bench, during the hearing of a case, said that if the wife writes a letter to the husband’s employer, he can lose his job. Which can also affect maintenance.

The Supreme Court bench said this while hearing the petition of a woman to transfer her case from Assam to Ghaziabad. The woman has written in the petition that she is already entangled in several legal cases against her husband in Ghaziabad. During the hearing on this petition, Justice Nagarathna observed that many wives were writing letters to their husband’s employer. After which the husband loses his job. Justice Nagarathna said that getting a divorce is one thing, but taking away the husband’s employment is worse. Justice Nagarathna said that such letters could result in the husband losing his job. As a result, the basis for claiming maintenance allowance is also reduced.

The woman’s lawyer said during the hearing that his client is involved in many cases against her husband. She claimed that at the behest of her husband, her close friend and co-worker filed a defamation case against the woman in Assam. This defamation case started with the wife sending a letter to the Indian Air Force officers in Delhi. It was alleged in the letter that the person is an officer in the Air Force. He is also doing personal business in violation of service rules. The woman’s lawyer argued in the Supreme Court that this letter was sent when the woman’s husband accused the woman and her brother of stealing an Air Force helmet. The Supreme Court has given the responsibility of its mediation center to explore the possibility of a settlement between the man and the woman.
