Supreme Court Hearing On Ram Mandir Donation Theft Case: Include CA in the new SIT, Supreme Court’s order in Ram Mandir donation theft case

New Delhi. Today, a hearing was held again in the Supreme Court on the petitions demanding investigation into the Ayodhya Ram Temple donation theft case. On behalf of the Uttar Pradesh government, Solicitor General (SG) Tushar Mehta informed the court that a new SIT has been formed as per the instructions given by the bench during the last hearing. Senior IPS and Lucknow Range IG Kiran S has been given the responsibility as the Chairman of the new SIT and Ayodhya Range DIG Somen Burma and Ayodhya SSP Gaurav Grover Shamil as members. On this, the apex court said that a Chartered Accountant (CA) should also be included as a member in the new SIT.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta assured the bench of Chief Justice Surya Kant, Justice Joymalya Bagchi and Justice V. Mohana that a CA would also be included in the SIT soon. The court has directed the SIT to submit the status report of the investigation. Petitioner’s lawyer Devdutt Kamat told the court that people across the country had donated Rs 100 to Rs 500, receipts for which were also available, but it is alleged that this money did not reach the trust. He demanded that the receipts of the trust be uploaded on the website. On this, the bench said that let the SIT report come, after that whatever necessary steps will be taken to ensure transparency.

It is noteworthy that earlier during the last hearing of this case on July 20, the bench had ordered that a new SIT should be constituted to investigate the donation theft case and a senior IPS officer who has experience in investigating such cases should be made the head of the SIT. The court had also said that this is a serious matter and there should be no politics in it.
