New Delhi. An organization with this name was formed on the basis of CJI Surya Kant's comment of 'cockroach' during the hearing of a case and it protested in Delhi against the NEET UG paper leak. The bench of CJI Surya Kant, Justice Jaimalya Bagchi and Justice V. Mohana heard the PIL and sought answers from the Central Government and CBI. The PIL seeks action against those who cleverly edited the virtual court proceedings and took advantage of the CJI's remarks, which he had never given.

The CJI bench in the Supreme Court heard this PIL for half an hour on Tuesday. The petitioner told the court that there should be a deep investigation as to how the word cockroach, which was used in a completely different context during the court proceedings on May 15, was selected, edited and used commercially to harm the judicial dignity and integrity of the institution. The petition has demanded that the authorities should investigate and take action against those people or institutions as per law. Those who took advantage of the words or examples given in the court, grabbed the trademark, disseminated it to command money or used it commercially without permission. It has also been said in the petition that it should be accepted that impartial criticism, democratic dissent, satire and freedom of expression are allowed within the constitutional ambit, but it should not be harmful to the institution.

During the hearing in the Supreme Court bench, it was said that the CJI had said the cockroach thing in the context of fake lawyers. The CJI had expressed concern about the misuse of court process, lack of professional standards and the impact it was having on the institution. Advocate Raja Chaudhary said that after May 15, cases of selectively editing clips of court proceedings have increased. He said that memes are created by distorting the things and comments said in the court. These memes are then circulated on social media to earn money. He said in the Supreme Court bench that the institution and judges are being shown in a bad image. An attempt is being made to reduce public trust through this. There is no system against such poor attempts.
