New Delhi. Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary has made a big announcement for the family of Bharat Tiwari, who was killed in a police encounter. On the basis of the interim report of the judicial inquiry, the CM has announced financial assistance to the family of late Bharat Tiwari and a government job to one of the family members by the Bihar government. The judicial inquiry into the Bharat Tiwari encounter case is going on under the chairmanship of retired Justice Vinod Kumar Sinha of Patna High Court. On June 17, police had encountered Bharat Tiwari in Bhojpur. Family members allege that despite Bharat surrendering himself, the police killed him in an encounter.
In this matter, first a case was registered against Jagdishpur sub-divisional police officer and Shahpur police station incharge and other policemen involved in the encounter. After that five policemen were also suspended. Ara Police and Special Task Force (STF) together arrested STF jawan Akshay just last month. It is alleged that Akshay had fired the first bullet at Bharat. A few days before this, Bharat's mother Asha Devi and other family members had met Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary and pleaded for justice. CM had assured strict action against the culprits.
After meeting the CM, Bharat's mother had said that she only expected justice from the Chief Minister. Recently, on August 10, senior advocate Sanjeev Singh, appearing for Bharat, had said that all the requests made on his behalf had been accepted by the Arrah court. He also claimed that Ara CJM Court has issued non-bailable warrant against 11 people including the then Jagdishpur SDM Sanjeet Kumar, SDPO Rajesh Kumar Sharma, Shahpur Police Station Head Rajesh Malakar, ASI Ramashankar Yadav, Inspector Ankit Aryan, Harishchandra Kumar, Vikas Kumar.
