New Delhi. Bengaluru Police has arrested a youth who was in constant touch with a member of the banned terrorist organization 'Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan' (TTP) and had also planned to go to Afghanistan. The name of the accused is Asaful Mallik and his age is about 25 years. He is originally a resident of Naupara village in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. Since December 2025, he was working as a security guard in Tata Advanced Limited in Jigani Industrial Area, Bengaluru and was living there near APC Circle. Bengaluru Police is currently interrogating the accused.
Police are investigating chats, voice recordings etc. recovered from Asaful Mallik's mobile phone so that his contacts can be traced. According to the police, Asaful Mallik had contacted a person named Imran Haider of Afghanistan, associated with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, through social media. According to the police, he was angry over the attacks on mosques and common people in Pakistan. At the same time, he was very angry in his mind regarding the stand of the Pakistan government on the issue of Israel and Palestine. For this reason he wanted to go to Afghanistan and join the fight against Pakistan's army.
Police have claimed that accused Mallik was brainwashed regarding the problems of Muslims and was being instigated to take retaliatory action. He was being told that if any Muslim in India faced any problem then he should retaliate against him. It is alleged that Mallik had sought help from Imran Haider to go to Afghanistan and had applied for a visa. However, he told the police during interrogation that due to financial constraints and family responsibilities, he later abandoned this plan.
