Jharkhand Students Agitation: The agitating students of Jharkhand gave an ultimatum to Hemant Soren government, said- if the demand is not met by this date, they will surround the CM residence.


Ranchi. The students who have been protesting in Jharkhand for 23 days have now given an ultimatum to the Hemant Soren government. The students who are protesting at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium in Ranchi have clearly said that now the Gandhian way is enough. If Hemant Soren government does not accept their demands by 18th August, then on 20th August they will gherao the CM residence. The agitating students had recently tried to surround the Jharkhand Assembly. Then the police lathicharged.

The agitating students of Jharkhand are adamant on demanding a CBI inquiry into the allegations of alleged rigging in the State Public Service Commission (JPSC) examinations and selling of seats for money. At the same time, Hemant Soren government is getting the investigation done by the CID of the state police. Jharkhand government has also said that it is ready to get the money laundering investigation done by ED. Several rounds of talks have taken place between the Jharkhand government and the agitating students, but due to the Hemant Soren government not accepting the demand for a CBI inquiry, the students have announced to intensify the movement. In such a situation, the atmosphere of student movement in Jharkhand is likely to heat up further.

The agitating students in Jharkhand had also taken out Tiranga Yatra on Independence Day on Saturday. Devendra Nath Mahato, who was trying to participate in it, was not allowed by the police to leave Ranchi Sadar Hospital. Devendra Nath Mahato was forcibly taken back to the hospital room. Mahato has alleged that he suffered a chest injury due to the way the police caught him. Talking about alleged rigging in JPSC paper and selling of seats, CID has arrested former chairman of the organization L. Many people including Khyangte have been arrested. Whereas, JPSC members Ajita Bhattacharya and Anima Hansda have also resigned from the post.
