Lakhisarai. A sudden stampede broke out on the third Monday of Sawan in the famous Ashokdham temple located in Lakhisarai, Bihar. There is news of death of 7 devotees and about 12 injuries. The injured have been admitted to Sadar Hospital, Lakhisarai. The condition of many of the injured is critical. In such a situation, there is a possibility of the death toll increasing.

According to the information, there was a stampede on the way from Ashokdham station to the temple. Electric poles and wires had fallen on this route on Sunday night. On the occasion of Monday of Sawan, a large number of people were reaching the temple in the morning. Kanwariyas were also among them. Suddenly the rumor of electrocution spread in the electric pole. Due to this the devotees got scared and a stampede broke out among them. Many devotees fell and others started running away from them. With great difficulty, the crowd could be removed and the devotees who were crushed after falling down could be rescued.

As soon as information about the stampede in Ashokdham temple was received, administration and police officers reached the spot. Ambulances were immediately sent and the injured were taken to Sadar Hospital. Ashokdham Temple is also known as Indradamneshwar Mahadev Temple. A huge Shivalinga of the time of Pala kings is installed here. A large number of devotees visit Ashokdham temple in the month of Sawan. After the accident in Ashokdham temple, the big question is that when the electric pole and wires had fallen in the night itself, why was no effort made to remove it. In the past also, many devotees have been losing their lives in stampede incidents due to rumors in various temples of the country.
