New Delhi. The Supreme Court on Monday gave a big relief to Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi in the disproportionate assets case. The Supreme Court put an interim stay on the next hearing on Rahul Gandhi's petition in Allahabad High Court. CJI Surya Kant's bench in the Supreme Court directed CBI and ED not to give any report related to Rahul Gandhi's income to any authority including Allahabad High Court.

The Supreme Court bench said that Allahabad High Court prima facie did not follow the principles of natural justice. Karnataka BJP worker Vignesh Shishir had filed a petition against Rahul Gandhi in Allahabad High Court. In the petition, he accused Rahul Gandhi of having assets disproportionate to his income. Allahabad High Court had said in its order in May this year that the reality of the allegations of disproportionate assets against Rahul Gandhi should be investigated. The High Court had said that CBI or ED can take appropriate action in this matter under the law. Allahabad High Court had asked CBI and ED to inform about the progress in the investigation.

Rahul Gandhi had filed a petition in the Supreme Court against this order of Allahabad High Court. His lawyer Kapil Sibal told the Supreme Court that the person filing the petition is an RSS worker. Sibal said that the petitioner has filed several petitions to defame Rahul Gandhi. After hearing his argument, the Supreme Court put an interim stay on the hearing of the petition filed in the Allahabad High Court in the case of Rahul Gandhi's disproportionate assets. Let us tell you that Vignesh Shishir has also filed a petition raising questions on Rahul Gandhi's citizenship. Hearing on this petition is going on in Lucknow.
