New Delhi. A bird collided with an Air India plane before landing. This plane was going from Delhi to Patna. When the pilot of flight number AI 1741 was preparing for landing at Patna airport, he felt a bird hitting the plane. The pilot immediately informed the air traffic control. ATC immediately implemented emergency protocol at the airport. Fire brigade and ambulance teams were alerted. After this, the pilot with great understanding easily made a safe landing of the plane.
There were a total of 164 people on board that plane, including passengers and crew members. The airport administration heaved a sigh of relief as soon as the plane landed safely. There was no injury or damage of any kind to any passenger on board the plane. After the plane landed at Patna airport, the plane was checked by engineers and technical team. It was confirmed that the plane had been hit by a bird. However, there was no damage to the engine or body of the aircraft.
After complete technical examination of the aircraft, it was given permission to fly. After receiving clearance, the aircraft took off on its return flight, about 79 minutes behind schedule, making up for the delay. There were 160 people on board the plane at the time of return. During the emergency protocol, there was no interruption in the operation of the airport and the arrangements continued smoothly. A week before this, on August 17, a bird had collided with a flight coming from Delhi at Patna Airport itself. After that incident, there was some technical fault in the plane and due to this the plane had to be grounded for two days.
