Kirodi Lal Meena Tests Positive For Swine Flu: Kirodi Lal Meena gets swine flu, admitted in ICU, cases increase in many other states including Delhi

New Delhi. The number of swine flu (H1N1) infections is continuously increasing in the country. Rajasthan Agriculture Minister Dr. Kirori Lal Meena has also been affected by swine flu. After his H1N1 test report came positive, he has been admitted to the ICU of Sawai Man Singh Hospital in Jaipur. Dr. Mahendra Aggarwal, head of the medicine department of the hospital, and his team are keeping an eye on Meena's health. However his condition is stable. Due to the infection, doctors have kept him in isolation and advised him not to meet family or other people for now.

So far 2308 cases of swine flu have been reported in the national capital Delhi. During the same period last year, the number of swine flu infected people in Delhi was around 229 and this year the number of infected people has increased manifold. In view of this situation, a day earlier on Tuesday, Delhi CM Rekha Gupta called the Health Minister and Health Department officials and held an emergency meeting. The situation of H1N1, dengue and malaria as well as the preparedness of hospitals, medicines, testing facilities and surveillance systems were reviewed in the meeting. The concerned departments were directed to intensify awareness campaigns, anti-larva activities, fogging and other prevention measures. Also, emphasis was laid on ensuring that the impact of all preparations and decisions is clearly visible at the ground level.

The government has appealed to the people that there is no need to panic, however, vigilance and caution is necessary. All necessary steps are being taken to keep the health system strong and deal with any possible challenge effectively. On the other hand, more than 300 cases of swine flu have been reported in Maharashtra. Whereas infection is also increasing in Uttarakhand, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.
