New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi today left for Uzbekistan and Kyrgyz Republic. Modi will first go to Uzbekistan and will stay there till August 30. He will then visit the Kyrgyz Republic to participate in the 26th SCO Summit from 31 August to 1 September 2026. This visit of Modi is very important in many ways. Modi will have a bilateral meeting with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Tashkent, which will be a meaningful step towards further strengthening the relations between India and Uzbekistan.

Prime Minister Modi and President Mirziyoyev will review cooperation in the areas of trade and investment, defence, digital connectivity, energy, education and people-to-people ties to further strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries and set an agenda for the way forward. Apart from this, Prime Minister Modi will visit Shastri Memorial in Tashkent and Mahatma Gandhi Center at Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies. This is Modi's fourth visit to Uzbekistan.
From here, Modi will leave for the Kyrgyz Republic, the next stop of his visit, and will go to the capital Bishkek to attend the 26th SCO summit. Issues like global security, terrorism, trade, and economic cooperation will be discussed in this summit. Modi will also address the summit. During this summit, PM Modi is also likely to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping. Let us tell you that this summit is being organized on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). India is a full member of Shanghai Cooperation Organization since 2017. China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan together established SCO. India and Pakistan joined it in 2017 and Iran also became its member in 2023.
