New Delhi. A massive blast has occurred in a firecracker factory in Kaushambi district of Uttar Pradesh. The explosion was so powerful that the entire factory was turned into debris. Many nearby houses have also been badly damaged. So far 7 people are reported to have died in this incident while many others are said to be injured. Police and fire brigade teams reached the spot and are engaged in relief and rescue work. The people of the village are also helping the administration in removing the debris and searching for the people buried under it.

DM and SP of Kaushambi district have also reached the spot. The work of removing debris is being done using bulldozers. Many people are suspected to be buried under the debris. Due to the large quantity of gunpowder in the factory, explosions continued for a long time due to which the fire brigade and rescue workers faced a lot of difficulties. This firecracker factory belonged to Adil, a resident of Manauri village. At present it is not clear whether this firecracker factory was legal or was being operated illegally.

Around 12 noon, the people of the village saw smoke rising from the factory and shortly thereafter there was a massive explosion. As soon as the explosion occurred, there was an atmosphere of chaos and screams. Due to non-availability of ambulance to the place where the factory is located, the injured are being taken to the ambulance by lying in cots. There is currently no official confirmation regarding the number of dead or injured.
