New Delhi. Security forces have killed a terrorist in an encounter in Ashdar Gali area of Budgam, Jammu and Kashmir. An AK rifle and other war-related material has been recovered from the slain terrorist. At present the search operation is going on in the area. The killed terrorist has not been identified yet. According to the information given by Chinar Corps, based on intelligence, teams of Indian Army, Srinagar CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police started a joint search operation in Ashdar Gali area and during the same an encounter took place with the terrorist.

The soldiers noticed some suspicious activity during the search operation. When the security forces were moving forward, firing started from the terrorists. The security forces also retaliated. Several rounds of bullets were fired from both sides. The encounter started late Thursday evening and intermittent firing continued from both sides throughout the night. During this time a terrorist was killed. Additional contingents of security forces were also sent to the spot so that other terrorists hiding in the area could be caught.

Just last month, a joint search operation was conducted by the Army, Srinagar CRPF and Jammu and Kashmir Police in Bugam area of Kulgam. During the search, five suspects were caught. Four 9mm pistols, four magazines, two hand grenades, ammunition and other items were recovered from them. These five people were handed over to Jammu and Kashmir Police for further investigation.
