New Delhi. Notice has been issued by the Bengal Assembly Secretariat to 10 rebel MLAs of Mamata Banerjee's party Trinamool Congress. The MLAs have been given one week's time to respond to the notice. The Assembly Secretariat has issued this notice on the demand of Mamata Banerjee's party to disqualify these MLAs. Mamata Banerjee faction MLA Shobhandeb Chattopadhyay had written a letter to Assembly Speaker Rathindra Bose on July 7. He had demanded disqualification of the 10 rebel MLAs as assembly members.
The 10 MLAs to whom notice has been issued include the names of Leader of Opposition in West Bengal Assembly Ritabrata Banerjee, Arup Rai, Firhad Hakim, Sandipan Saha, Akhrujman Ansari, Shiuli Saha, Sabina Yasmin, Biplab Mitra, Javed Khan and Rathin Ghosh. Let us tell you that after the West Bengal Assembly elections, Mamata Banerjee had expelled MLAs Ritabrata Banerjee and Sandipan Saha from TMC. After this Shobhandeb Chattopadhyay was made the leader of the opposition. But there was a split in TMC and the rebel MLAs formed their own faction under the leadership of Ritabrata Banerjee. After this, with the support of 59 MLAs of the rebel group, the Speaker of the Assembly approved the appointment of Ritabrata Banerjee as the leader of the opposition.
Ritabrata Banerjee's faction has also claimed itself to be the real TMC party. The matter regarding this is currently pending before the Election Commission. Ritabrata Banerjee claims that 64 out of 80 TMC MLAs are with him. Earlier, Ritabrata Banerjee had met the West Bengal Assembly Speaker and complained that the proposal to make Shobhandeb the Leader of Opposition sent by Mamata Banerjee's nephew and TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee had fake signatures of 14 MLAs.
