Mamata Banerjee's party 'Mamata All India Trinamool Congress' (MAITC) candidate Rabiul Alam Chaudhary has now backtracked on his talk of withdrawing from the elections. Chaudhary said that our leader Mamata Banerjee has instructed us to contest the elections. We are Mamata Banerjee's soldiers, so we will contest the elections. Just a few hours ago, Chaudhary had announced to withdraw his nomination in the by-election from Rejinagar seat, but now he has agreed to contest the elections again.
Earlier, Rabiul Alam Chaudhary had said that the main reason behind withdrawing from the election was not getting the election symbol of Trinamool Congress Party 'two flowers on the grass'. According to media reports, after Rabiul Alam Choudhary announced withdrawal of nomination, Mamata Banerjee called him and explained to him. Chaudhary accepted Mamata's words and took a U-turn on his decision of not contesting the elections. This is a big relief for Mamata Banerjee because her candidate Sanchita Pradhan Dey from Nandigram seat has already withdrawn her nomination. In such a situation, if Choudhary, the candidate from Rejinagar, had also withdrawn from the election, then Mamata Banerjee's party would have been out of the election race without contesting the election.
There has been a lot of turmoil in the politics of West Bengal for the last two days. First, the Election Commission froze the name and symbol of All India Trinamool Congress and allotted separate names and election symbols to Mamata and the rebel faction of TMC.
