Mumbai India's daughter Neela Vikhe Patil has been elected MP in Sweden. Neela Vikhe Patil is the daughter of renowned educationist of Maharashtra Ashok Vikhe Patil and niece of Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, Minister in the Government of Maharashtra. 41 year old Neela Vikhe Patil won the parliamentary elections held on September 13 in Sweden. She was elected from the Stockholm City parliamentary seat. Expressing happiness on becoming an MP, Neela has said that she is happy to be a part of the Parliament of Sweden. Along with contributing to the city and country, she will also raise the voice of those who cannot vote. Neela Vikhe Patil has also announced to work for children and environment.
Neela Vikhe Patil's great grandfather Vitthalrao Vikhe Patil was the founder of Asia's first cooperative sugar mill. His grandfather, late Balasahebhi Vikhe Patil, was a Union Minister. According to Neela, when she was 15 years old, her grandfather had asked her to read the state budget. Neela said that she wants to make her grandfather proud as a Swedish MP. Green Party member Neela Vikhe Patil worked as a political advisor to Stefan Löfven when he was PM. At that time she looked after the matters of finance, tax and housing. Neela Vikhe Patil was also a member of the Stockholm Municipal Corporation. Neela was born in Sweden. He spent his childhood in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra.
According to Neela, she feels very connected to India. He told the media that his grandfather used to call every week in his last days. Now Neela is going to make India proud abroad as a Swedish MP. According to Neela's father Ashok Vikhe Patil, he is proud of his daughter's achievement. Neela Vikhe Patil has a bachelor's degree in Economics and Law from the Gothenburg School of Business and also an MBA from the University de Complutense, Madrid, Spain.
