New Delhi. After completely eliminating Naxalism, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has now declared an open war against drugs. In the third national meeting of the Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), Amit Shah announced that by December 2029, the narcotics trade has to be completely eradicated. Narcotics are a big threat to India. Many times large consignments of drugs have also been recovered at ports.
In the ANTF meeting, Amit Shah said that unless all the central departments and state governments work together, we cannot move forward to achieve the important goal of drug-free India by 2029. In the meeting, Amit Shah said that in the last five years, he faced many challenges including terrorism in Kashmir, militancy in the North-East and Naxalism. With the cooperation of all the states, the Home Ministry has eliminated these decades-old problems. He described the war against narcotics as the toughest of all battles. He said that we cannot give up this war.
Amit Shah said in the meeting that along with making a developed India by the year 2047 and connecting the youth with the development of the country, we have to make India drug-free at all costs to save the coming generations from drugs. Many steps have been taken in this direction under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi. Shah said that now we have to move from meetings to missions, from reporting to results and from seizures to dismantling the drug network. So that punishment can be given in drug cases. The Union Home Minister said that this meeting is important, because together we have to root out the drug trade by 31 December 2029. We will move towards victory against drugs by setting targets, deadlines and accountability.
