According to the information received, a 25-year-old woman resident of Shahpur area of Gorakhpur, UP was married to a young man from Delhi in December 2022. The woman's husband is an assistant engineer in DDA. According to the woman, her parents had spent lakhs of rupees on the wedding. The woman alleged that after marriage, her mother-in-law, father-in-law and brother-in-law used to harass her and taunt her regarding dowry. Many times they even assaulted the woman. According to the woman, her in-laws used to demand her to bring Rs 50 lakh from her maternal home.
During this period, gradually changes started taking place in the husband's behavior also. Then in February 2023, the woman came to Delhi with her husband and started living there. After the woman came to Delhi, her husband changed completely and started misbehaving with her. The woman has accused her husband of forcibly having physical relations even during her periods and pressurizing her for unnatural relations. The woman reached Shahpur police station and lodged a complaint against her husband, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law and sister-in-law. Police have registered an FIR on the basis of the woman's complaint and have started investigating the matter.
