Another Blow To Yasin Malik: Another blow to Yasin Malik, court orders framing of charges in the case of taking funds from Pakistani establishments.


New Delhi. The troubles of Yasin Malik, who was the head of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) and the main separatist of Jammu and Kashmir, seem to be increasing. Delhi's NIA court has ordered framing of charges under PML against Yasin Malik and six others. Everyone including Yasin Malik is accused of taking funds from Pakistan's establishment through Hawala channels. NIA has alleged that Yasin Malik and the accused collected Rs 89487639 through hawala.

Apart from Yasin Malik, NIA has made accused Zahoor Ahmed Shah Watali, Abdul Rashid Shaikh, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Naval Kapoor, Masrat Alam Bhat and Trison Farms and Construction Private Limited in this case. NIA has said in the charge sheet that these seven, including Yasin Malik, took funds from Hawala and other terrorist organizations through different methods and channels to further their agenda of subversive activities against their separatist ideology and law. Yasin Malik has been recognized as a prominent separatist leader of Jammu and Kashmir. His organization JKLF is banned.

The JKLF was the first organization to lead an armed insurgency in the Kashmir Valley in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Yasin Malik is currently lodged in Tihar jail. In May 2022, the NIA special court had sentenced Yasin Malik to life imprisonment after finding him guilty of criminal conspiracy, waging war against the country and raising funds for terrorist and separatist activities in Jammu and Kashmir. Yasin Malik is also accused of killing four soldiers, including Indian Air Force Squadron Leader Ravi Khanna, in Rawalpora, Srinagar in January 1990. During the hearing of this case in the TADA court, eyewitnesses have identified Yasin Malik as the main attacker. CBI has demanded strict punishment to Yasin Malik in this case.
