As soon as he assumed the post of CM of UP, Yogi Adityanath had ordered the police to take strict action against the miscreants. As a result, UP Police wreaked havoc on the goons and mafia who were wreaking terror in the state. The swift action of UP Police brought down the miscreants and in the last nine and a half years of Yogi government, hundreds of criminals were killed and thousands were injured and put in jail.
According to the latest figures, 303 criminals have been killed in encounters with the police since 2017 in UP. UP Police also injured 12202 criminals in encounters. UP Police arrested 23601 wanted criminals during this period. At the same time, action was taken against 87835 miscreants under Gangster Act. UP Police has also seized property worth more than Rs 15,000 crore of the criminals under the Gangster Act. During the Yogi government in UP, action has also been taken against 995 under the National Security Act (NSA). UP Police registered 909 cases against 68 people identified as mafia and their gang and arrested 651 people.
As soon as he assumed power, UP CM Yogi Adityanath had clearly said in a public meeting that the miscreants should either leave UP, surrender or be ready to die. Yogi has also given instructions to the police to take strict action against those who commit crimes against women and girls in UP. CM Yogi Adityanath constantly says that if any woman or daughter of UP is molested or commits a crime, then Yamraj will be found waiting for that scoundrel at the next intersection from where the incident took place. Before Yogi took power in UP, the condition of law and order had become very bad. Women did not go out after evening. The situation in UP was bad due to many incidents of robbery, murder, rape and extortion, but now the image of UP has changed due to the strict action taken by the police against the miscreants.
