New Delhi. CBI is considered to be the most premium investigation agency of the country. Everyone trusts the CBI investigation, but now the court has ordered to register a case against only six CBI officers. Justice Madhu Jain of Delhi High Court, after hearing the petition of former IRS officer Ashok Kumar Aggarwal, ordered to register a case against former CBI Joint Director Vineet Vinayak, then branch chief Amit Kumar, then SP Prem Kumar Gautam and Raman Tyagi, then Sub Inspector Sushil Diwan and then CBI Special Public Prosecutor Mohammad Azad.

The case is of disproportionate assets case against former IRS officer Ashok Kumar Aggarwal. CBI had registered this case. Delhi High Court had invalidated the sanction order of CBI on 13 January 2016. After which, on March 10, the special CBI court acquitted Ashok Aggarwal in the disproportionate assets case. The former IRS officer had filed a petition in the court demanding the return of the documents seized by the CBI. On this petition, CBI had told the court that talks are going on with the Ministry of Law and Justice on further action. At the same time, the Law Ministry had given its opinion on June 8, 2016 that CBI does not have solid grounds to appeal in the Supreme Court.

That is, CBI gave wrong information to the court that it was in talks with the Law Ministry. After this, former IRS Ashok Aggarwal had filed a petition to take action against CBI officers, accusing them of giving false statements under Section 340 of CrPC. The special CBI court had rejected this petition in October 2025. Against which Agarwal had approached Delhi High Court. The Delhi High Court found that the Law Ministry, by giving its opinion on June 8, 2016, had not acceded to the CBI's request to file an SLP, but Vineet Vinayak, then Joint Director of the investigating agency, removed it from the file and falsely claimed that the talks were continuing. On this, Delhi High Court has ordered to register a case against six CBI officers related to Agarwal's case.
