New Delhi. Protests have been going on in Delhi since June 6 for various reasons. Due to which business in Delhi has suffered a loss worth thousands of crores. The Chamber of Trade and Industries (CTI) has said that in the month of October alone, businessmen have suffered a loss of about Rs 3000 crore due to protests in Delhi. CTI has demanded a ban on protests till Diwali. CTI has demanded that permanent sites be made in Rohini, Burari and Dwarka for future protests. Also demanded from the police that they should not pressurize the shops to close, but should provide security to keep the markets open. Apart from this, CTI has also demanded relief package for traders for the losses incurred in October, exemption in electricity-water bills and GST.

There was a protest against the NEET-UG paper leak in Delhi at Jantar Mantar from 6 June to 25 July 2026. Even during that time, traders of Central Delhi had claimed a loss of Rs 100 to 300 crore every day. After this, in October, Congress and an organization continuously protested in Central Delhi including Jantar Mantar, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Due to the protests, Delhi Police closed the Central Park of Connaught Place for two consecutive days on Friday and again on 17 October. Due to this, the business of shopkeepers in and around this area was ruined.

Frustrated with the loss of business due to the continuous protests in Delhi, shopkeepers have also approached the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has said that it will hear this matter on 26 or 27 October. During the hearing in the Supreme Court, the bench of CJI Surya Kant and Justice Jaimalya Bagchi had said that all the parties should see that no one is harmed. At the same time, now the Central Government has also removed Jantar Mantar, located near the big markets of Delhi, from the designated place for protests. A petition has been filed against this in the Supreme Court. If the Supreme Court upholds the Centre's decision to de-notify Jantar Mantar, protests will not be possible in this area. Which will provide relief to businessmen.
