New Delhi. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is currently on a visit to India. During this, Rubio has completely rejected the comments of United Nations (UN) experts regarding the recent protests in India. Rubio sarcastically said that 'United Nations expert' is a contradictory term in itself. Let us tell you that United Nations experts have criticized the action against the protesters. Whereas Rubio said that this is his domestic political matter. India is a democracy, elections are held here, I do not want to get involved in the internal politics of India.
Marco Rubio view on student and opposition protests in India – 'It is a domestic political matter.' 'We are not gonna get involved in politics.''This is a democracy they have elections here.' 'We have protests everyday in the United States.',

Rubio also said that we have protests every day here in the United States… But in many ways, people coming out and voicing their views is a sign that this is a country where political discussions take place and people have differences of opinion. In fact, just a day before, UN human rights experts, referring to the recent protests in India, had demanded an independent investigation into the actions of the police and administration. However, India reacted strongly to this.

Indian diplomat to the United Nations, Barkha Tamrakar, said in very clear words that human rights should not be used to create political pressure or target selected countries. He said that attempts to present a negative image of India on the basis of incomplete data and baseless allegations are not justified. He said that under Article 21 of the country's Constitution, citizens have the right to adequate rights, legal protection and fair process.
