New Delhi. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk praised Indian PM Narendra Modi and called him a ray of hope. He said, our country attaches great importance to the role of India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in global affairs. Addressing reporters after meeting PM Modi at Hyderabad House in Delhi, Tusk said, as the Prime Minister of a powerful country like India, your global role means a lot to us. You are a ray of hope for all of us. I can call myself your friend and I am very proud of that.
Tusk said, I am confident that in the coming years, together, Poland and India will take the current level of mutual cooperation much further. Proof of the interest of Polish businesses in enhancing cooperation with Indian partners is the fact that today we have representatives of several dozen Polish companies in New Delhi. In August 2024, I hosted Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Warsaw. We then took a historic decision to elevate our relations to the level of 'strategic partnership' and adopted an action plan for 2024-2028. This was a very important journey. However, the value of strategic partnerships is measured not just by announcements, but by investments, new technologies and jobs. Today we discussed with Prime Minister Modi how this decision was translated into concrete results. We are living in an era where economy and security are deeply interconnected. Recent years have shown how fragile supply chains can be, and how important energy, raw materials and technology are.
The Polish Prime Minister said, being located on the eastern border of the European Union and NATO, Poland understands these challenges very well. Russia's aggression against Ukraine reminds us that peace, stability and respect for international law have a direct impact on economic growth. We need to build strong and diverse relationships that are based on trust, not a new kind of dependence. In this context, India has special importance for Poland. I believe that Poland can also become an important partner for India in Europe. We have developed industry, experts, technologies and access to the single European market. At the same time, India brings with it the ability to work on a large scale, dynamism, talent and immense manufacturing potential. Our strengths are different, and that's why we can prove to be great complements to each other.
