MEA Clarifies Situation Along LAC: Situation worsens due to Chinese Army breaking rules, Indian External Affairs Ministry clarifies situation on LAC

New Delhi. Indian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, while answering the questions of journalists in the weekly press briefing, clarified the situation regarding the standoff between the armies in the India-China border areas. Jaiswal said, as we have said earlier, when the Chinese army deviates from the pre-determined patrolling methods, the situation in the India-China border areas worsens from time to time. I would also like to emphasize that maintaining peace and stability in the border areas is very important for the overall development of bilateral relations.

Jaiswal said both sides are using existing diplomatic and military mechanisms to resolve outstanding issues along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and to avoid any misunderstanding or miscalculation. To improve border management on both sides, it has also been agreed to discuss ways to further improve mutual understanding in certain areas along the LAC. Jaiswal was questioned about the statement of Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Director General Shatrujit Singh Kapoor. Singh has said that soldiers of China and India have faced each other several times on the LAC for some time. Along with this, Jaiswal has suggested the journalists to approach the Defense Ministry for detailed description of this issue.

They are closely monitoring the situation there and are in touch with people in our community. Indian citizens living in countries where protests are taking place have been advised to remain alert, exercise utmost caution while going out and stay away from protest sites.
