Bokaro. Incidents of crimes against women are happening continuously in Jharkhand. Till August this year, 118 cases of rape were registered in Jharkhand. Now the latest case of rape has happened in Bokaro. A 14 year old minor was kidnapped and raped in Tetriyatand of Gomiya police station area of Bokaro. Not only this, the accused also posted the photo of the minor on Facebook and Instagram. On the complaint of the girl's mother, the police have registered a rape case and arrested the accused.
In the complaint given to the police on October 28, 2026, the girl's mother said that on the evening of October 23, the daughter had gone to a family function at her grandmother's house in the adjacent village. While returning home at night, the accused youth allegedly kidnapped the girl. Then they forcibly took her to Chandrapura and raped her. After the rape, the accused posted the girl's photo on social media platforms. The girl's family came to know about this incident after the girl's photo appeared on social media. The rape victim's mother has said in the complaint that the family members then went to the accused's house. From where the girl was found.
According to Gomiya police station, a case has been registered against the accused under sections of POCSO and IT Act. Along with sending the accused to jail, the process of removing the photo of the victim girl from social media is also going on. The extent of rape cases in Jharkhand can be seen from the fact that according to the data of National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), 1221 cases of rape were reported to the police in the year 2023. Whereas, in the year 2024, 1073 cases of rape were registered in the state. Whereas, in 2025, 716 rape cases were registered from January to May alone. In such a situation, the efforts of Hemant Soren government of Jharkhand to stop the continuous incidents of rape are proving inadequate.
