PM Narendra Modi At Rashtriya Ekta Diwas: It is difficult to imagine today's India without Sardar Patel, from the Himalayas to the Indian Ocean… PM Modi said at the Unity Day function

New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the National Unity Day celebrations organized in Gujarat on the occasion of the 151st birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Addressing the program, Modi said, Sardar Patel is that great personality in the history of India, without whom it is difficult to imagine today's India. Sardar Patel has shaped the present form of India. Even after partition, it was Sardar Patel who kept India safe from the Himalayas to the Indian Ocean. Modi said, today, when we are celebrating the 151st birth anniversary of Sardar Patel, we can say that the country has fulfilled a resolution. On the occasion of his 150th birth anniversary, I had said that we will not rest until the country is free from Naxalism and Maoism. Exactly one year later, we have fulfilled that resolution. Today Naxalism is over.

Modi said, freedom is necessary for any country. When there is independence, the country decides its own future but independence gets the right direction from the republic. The Republic shows us the way to take those decisions within the limits of the Constitution. The Constitution keeps us accountable to the public and unity gives us the strength to move forward as a nation, hence now in our country all the three national festivals of Independence Day, Republic Day and Unity Day are celebrated with full enthusiasm.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, today India is safer than before. Today India is more determined. And a major reason for this is the increased self-confidence of the countrymen. This confidence comes from achievements, from the sensitivity of the government and the system. In the past months we have seen the world struggling with energy crisis. In many countries, limits were even imposed on the purchase of petrol and diesel. It was also being said for India that there is such a huge population here, even petroleum is not produced here, hence the biggest crisis will be faced by India. Amidst these apprehensions, anti-India forces also became active. But, it is India's strength that we did not let this global energy crisis fall on our citizens.
