Chandigarh. The party suffered a setback on Sunday, the second day after the Aam Aadmi Party released the first list of candidates for the Punjab Assembly elections. Two MLAs of the ruling Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab have resigned. Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra, MLA from Sanaur assembly seat of Punjab and Chetan Singh Jodamajra, MLA from Samana seat, have announced to leave the Aam Aadmi Party.

Harmeet Singh Pathan Majra was at loggerheads with the leadership of Aam Aadmi Party and the government of CM Bhagwant Mann for a long time. Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra's resignation from Aam Aadmi Party has gone viral on social media. Jodamajra's post of leaving the party is also viral. It is not yet known which party Harmeet Singh Pathan Majra and Chetan Singh Jodamajra will go to. Let us tell you that there are Congress, Akali Dal and BJP also in Punjab. The dispute between Harmeet Singh Pathan Majra and Aam Aadmi Party started in September 2025. At that time, Harmeet Singh had raised questions on the government and Aam Aadmi Party leadership on the issue of cleaning rivers and drains.

After this, the Bhagwant Mann government withdrew the security of Pathan Majra. At the same time, on the complaint of a woman, a case of rape, cheating and threatening was registered against Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra. Harmeet Singh was also declared a fugitive by the Patiala court in December 2025. Pathan Majra had said that this action was taken out of political malice. Whereas, Chetan Singh Jodamajra was made light incharge of Samana. This step was taken by CM Bhagwant Mann after former Akali Dal government minister Surjit Singh Rakhra was included in the Aam Aadmi Party. It is believed that Chetan Singh Jodamajra was angry with this. Now everyone's eyes are on which party Harmeet Singh Pathan Majra and Chetan Singh Jodamajra will join and whether their resignation will affect the Aam Aadmi Party or not.
