Supreme Court Issues Notice To All Office-Bearers of Kerala Congress: Supreme Court issues notice to all office-bearers of Kerala Congress, strict stance in the post regarding CJI

New Delhi. Recently, the Supreme Court has adopted a tough stance in the matter related to the objectionable post made by Kerala Congress regarding the removal of Chief Justice of the country Justice Surya Kant from the post. The apex court has issued notices to all the officials of Kerala Congress on the post targeting the CJI and directed them to appear before them. In the notice, the court has asked the Congress officials why contempt case should not be initiated against them?

The top court said that every comment made in the name of freedom of expression cannot be acceptable. We have control over ourselves and this should not be mistaken for our weakness. The court indicated to take strict action against anyone who insults the dignity of the court. The court said that we perform our duties within the ambit of the Constitution. Giving information in this matter, lawyer and complainant Vineet Jindal said that the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee had made an objectionable tweet targeting the Chief Justice of India, in which it had demanded his resignation and removal from his post. On the letter petition, the Supreme Court took suo motu cognizance of the matter and issued notices to all the officials of KPCC and directed them to appear before the court.

Jindal said the court understood the seriousness of the case as it sought to undermine the office and dignity of the Chief Justice of India. The petitioner told the court that about 10 lakh people had seen the Congress's tweet which solidified the dignity of the CJI. The petitioner demanded from the court that criminal contempt action should be taken against the Congress officials. Let us tell you that Kerala Congress had deleted that tweet after the controversy escalated.
